Adult ADHD Assessment

Are you experiencing difficulty concentrating? Do you suffer from impulsivity or hyperactivity? Do you think you have ADHD?

If so, our team of psychologists at the Psychology, Counselling & Wellbeing Centre can help you. As of 2023, one in twenty Australians suffers from Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). Symptoms manifest themselves in various ways, the most common include (but are not limited to) poor time management, impulsiveness, disorganization and difficulty sustaining attention. If left untreated, ADHD in adults can cause issues in one's career and personal life.

Adults with untreated or undiagnosed ADHD may face pivotal problems like mood disorders, anxiety and impulsiveness. Even if the above issues were treated, the underlying problem can lead to more problems if left undiagnosed.

Unfortunately, ADHD symptoms are not a one-size-fits-all and it is crucial to get diagnosed to meet the happiest, healthiest and highest functioning version of yourself. Getting the right diagnosis saves lives.

What to Expect

1

Initial Consultation

Your first appointment typically takes around 2 hours. During this time, your practitioner will conduct a clinical interview and assess key criteria for ADHD. Lastly, your psychologist will inform you if a formal assessment is needed.

2

Psychologist Report

Your psychologist will use this second stage to score assessments, evaluate and interpret results given and write a report, recommendation and prepare for the feedback session.

Feedback Sessions

In the final session, your psychologist will give an in-depth verbal explanation of the client's assessment results. A written report will also be provided and recommendations for the future will be discussed.

* Please note that we do not prescribe or dispense any medication at this practice.

Treatment Sessions (Optional)

Cognitive Behavioural interventions have been found to have significant positive outcomes for those with ADHD. This can be done in follow up to an ADHD assessment, but also without an assessment. Click here to find out more.
